BounceLayer

HTTP API column · no code

Verify emails in Clay with BounceLayer

Add one HTTP API column to your Clay table and every row gets a verification result, with a plain-English reason and a suggested fix for typos.

Nothing in your table is changed except the new column. Filter rows on the result, or send only valid emails to your outreach tool.

How to set it up

  1. 1

    Get a BounceLayer API key

    Sign up free, then open API Keys in the dashboard and create a key. It starts with bl_live_.

  2. 2

    Add an HTTP API column

    In your Clay table, click Add column → Enrich data → HTTP API.

  3. 3

    Set the request

    Method POST, URL https://api.bouncelayer.com/api/v1/verify/single, and two headers.

    X-API-Key: bl_live_your_key
    Content-Type: application/json
  4. 4

    Map the email column

    Use this body, with your email column in place of {{Email}}.

    {
      "email": "{{Email}}"
    }
  5. 5

    Pick the fields you need

    Map result.status, result.explanation and result.did_you_mean into their own columns. Filter on status = valid before you export.

Clay questions

What does each Clay row cost?

One credit per email, the same as the API. Unknown results are free, and credits you buy never expire.

Which fields should I use?

result.status (valid, invalid, catch_all, disposable, do_not_mail or unknown), result.explanation for the reason, and result.did_you_mean for typo fixes.

Does Clay need a special integration?

No. Clay's HTTP API column calls the BounceLayer API directly with your API key.

Can I re-run a row?

Yes. Checking an address your account has already verified again is free.
